Boekenhoutskloof – 2024 Goldmine White
Western Cape, South Africa
Vintage: 2024
Boekenhoutskloof, one of South Africa’s most celebrated wineries and the name behind the cult-favourite Chocolate Block, presents the Goldmine White 2024. Created as the white counterpart to their iconic red blend, this wine follows the same philosophy: bringing together diverse vineyard expressions to showcase the true spirit of the Cape.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, the wine is layered and inviting, opening with aromas of quince, ripe nectarine, and poached pear, supported by hints of bruised apple and a gentle touch of baking spice. The palate carries vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavours with refined clarity. Each variety plays its part: oak-aged Semillon offers backbone and aging potential, Swartland Chenin Blanc adds weight and texture, cool-climate Chardonnay brings freshness and lift, while Viognier contributes a subtle floral perfume.
The 2024 Goldmine White reflects South Africa’s rich winemaking diversity, delivering depth, character, and elegance—qualities that echo the enduring appeal of The Chocolate Block.
Awards & Recognition
93 points – Tim Atkin: “A striking new addition to the Boekenhoutskloof range. This pan-regional blend—53% Chenin Blanc, 24% Chardonnay, 19% Semillon, 4% Viognier—is inspired by southern Rhône whites. It’s mineral, savoury, and gently oaked, showing notes of laurel, thyme, and white blossom on the nose, with flavours of pear, citrus, peach, and wet stone on the palate.”
